Letters From Iwo Jima (2006)
From the director of "Flags of our Fathers" comes the story of the battle for Iwo Jima told through the eyes of the Japanese soldiers. tells a story beyond War World II. Iwo Jima Island stands between american military force and japan home island. Japanese Army desperate to prevent it from falling into American's Hand. General Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe) doesn't favour his subordinates of doing Harakiri. and a young soldier, Saigo (Kazunari Ninomiya), former poor baker doing something great at the end of the movie, saving their letters. bury it underground. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage, and horrors beyond imagination. as a Historical-Drama movie, i give two thumbs up for this. not only shows the battle, but also depression of their condition.
Director : Clint eastwood
